For this ART 231 assignment, I carved a complete display alphabet into individual 4 × 4-inch Styrofoam blocks, inked each block with a brayer, and hand-printed every character. After scanning the prints, I isolated the letterforms in Photoshop and developed FUNKPUNK, a poster series built around the raw texture of the custom alphabet.
To expand the imagery beyond type, I created a separate charcoal illustration of a vintage microphone and integrated it into the final compositions. Layering the drawing with the hand-printed letterforms allowed me to combine analog mark-making with digital composition while capturing the energetic, imperfect character of punk graphics.
